Orienteering New Brunswick is offering two family friendly activities and challenging courses for those looking for an adventure on May 16th & 17th Fundy National Park, Alma, NB.
NOTE: Due to the amount of snow this spring expect wet conditions and snow in the forest.
Saturday, May 16 – Owl Prowl
Bring your headlamp and go on a night time treasure hunt. Compete by yourself or in a team. This will be a 1 hour night orienteering event located in the Chignecto South Group Campground. There will be two courses.
- Little Saw Whet: Easy course. The controls will be located along the roads.
- Great Horn Owl: Challenging. The controls will be located along the roads and in the forest.
Reflectors will be placed on the controls to make them visible.
Challenge: Find as many controls as possible in the time limit.
Start: 10:00pm
Duration: 1 hour (may be longer)
Rgistration: Pre-registration is requested to print sufficient maps and to avoid the late registration fees.
Onsite registration: 9:30pm Chignecto South Campground.
Fees: (Fees increase after May 13):
Adult: $12/$17
Junoir (under 20): $6/$8
Family max. $25/$35

Directions: Chignecto South Campground. Follow the arrows on the two coloured, orange & white triangle signs, to the onsite registration. Watch for glow sticks.
Equipment: Flashlight/headlamp, whistle, compass and watch.
Mandatory equipment: Whistle.
NEW: Navigational Training Session.

Sunday, May 17 – Fundy Mist
There will be 2 courses offered, 2-hour & 4-hour. Find as many controls as possible in the time provided. Compete by yourself or in a team.
- 2-hour course: Will be beginner and family friendly with navigational challenges. The venue for this 2-hour course will be the area located near the Park’s Visitor’s Centre
- 4-hour course: Physically challenging and requiring good navigational skills.
Start: Mass start at noon.
Registration: Pre-registration is requested to prepare sufficient maps. Onsite registration is possible, a late registration fee will apply. Register by May 13, 2015.
Onsite Registration: 11am at the ball field located in the playground across from the Park’s Visitor’s Centre.
Fees (Fees increase after May 13):
Adult: $25/$30
Junior (under 20): $10/$15
Family max. $35/$45
